News: Greater Manchester and Lancashire out of lockdown, business back to normal

From 17th May 2021, the vast majority of businesses in England were allowed to re-open and return to more normal trading conditions. That's brought about a huge increase in the volume of work for transport companies and goods delivery businesses like ourselves here at Avango.

It’s fair to say that we’ve not had the easiest of years as a courier company. Then again, who has? With lockdown after lockdown, there are some people who’ve done well and adapted to the new world, but for many it’s been a tough 12 months dealing with COVID and its affect on our lives.

Now that’s changing and many of the businesses we used to support are back to work. Which means we’re seeing an increase in requests for our courier services, especially our same day delivery service.

We have a long-standing customer that supplies the catering industry and with many more cafes and restaurants re-opening for indoor dining, they’re seeing huge numbers of customers – which means we need to help them resupply more frequently. Another customer also has us regularly ship rental equipment to factories that are needing to increase and improve their production line capability.

Traffic jams and the effects of lockdowns

It’s been interesting (to say the least) to see the changes in and around Greater Manchester and the North West of England during this last year. With such a large population, the roads around most towns and cities in this region were always full of traffic prior to 2020. The lockdowns had a shocking effect on the traffic and it was amazing to be able to drive almost anywhere without traffic jams and delays.

But now we’re noticing that, although the peak times have almost gone back to the old ways, it seems there are generally less vehicles out on the road than what we can remember in 2019. Although this might just be us, we have no way of scientifically proving that.

One thing we can say is that it’s so nice to have the phone ringing again and the emails dropping into our inbox on a regular basis. If you have a small business and have had a tough time, then we hope that you’re having the same boost in enquiries and are heading back to normality.

If you need help getting goods either delivered into, or collect from your premises then why not call us? We’ll happily discuss what we can do to help, and our same day delivery services are more affordable than you might think.
